Sorry for being such a slacker.. again.
I don’t even remember my last update! That’s just sad.
I think I was around June 7th? Jordyn and I decided to get up and go to Sitges.. We headed to the train station and got on the train she SWORE was the right one.. and ended up 45 minutes out of the way sitting next to some old women who were just shaking there heads saying “you’ve made a mistake.. you’re going to the mountains, not the beach..” which is a great way to start any day. Anyway, we got on the right train at the end of the line and finally made it to Sitges 2 hours later.. we ate delicious, thick pizza for lunch on the beach and laid for hours..seeing the oldest boobs of my life, way too many topless women, and missing the robbery of the girl beside me’s purse.. then I got the most delicious smoothie of my life, watched Federer kick Soderling’s butt in the French Open final.. and headed home on the train..
The week went so quickly, as usual, and I hung out with Gill and Carlos and went out for drinks with Jordyn and our temporary roommate Dave.. we went to Azucar which is my fav bar that I’ve found so far and has delicious caipirinhas.. yum.
On Thursday night, I decided to go to Paris to visit Rachael, Ellen B and Sylvia.. I bought my ticket last minute and told my boss I wouldn’t be able to make it on Friday. I later got chewed out on Facebook chat (SO professional, I know) by my boss, but I didn’t even care.
Friday morning I jumped on the airport bus, got on the flight, and made it to PARIS! I took the RER and metro to Rachael’s stop and dropped my stuff at her house. It was so great to see someone I really knew again. We grabbed lunch, hung out and talked, then walked to her professor Susan’s house for cocktails and snacks. I met the whole group (which was really great.. they were so much fun and so outgoing and made me miss Clemson even more).. and we went to get drinks and crepes.. then headed to Kathryn Morgan’s apartment to hang out and play ‘games’.. then we went to this club called Duplex. I was hoping it would be cool, but it was really expensive and practically empty.. Rach and I were tired and headed home early to prep for the big day on Saturday..
9 AM at the metro for our trip to Versailles.. I never could have expected the length of the trip, but the place was absolutely gorgeous. We walked and walked and walked and the crazy hippy American-but-thinks-she’s-French guide Christine (who smoked at least 30 cigarettes in 7 hours) talked and talked and talked. Our only break was 30 minutes to sit and eat our sandwiches for lunch, then we continued on the march. While the group went inside the main castle, I stayed outside and laid in the sun.. since I didn’t want to pay 25 euros to get inside. Then we went out to Marie Antoinette’s ”private” area which was like walking into the movie set.. it was gorgeous and I’d love to live in the little houses she had scattered around a huge garden area. THEN I ran into Flo, my roommate from Sevilla, which was the most random thing that’s happened to me, even here.. Finally, we headed back to the city, went to a nice 3 course meal, and Rachael and I went over to Laurin’s apartment to hang out…
I never ended up seeing the Eiffel tower at night, and the next morning we went to an antiques market, which was really disappointing, and I would have much rather been laying in front of the Tower or walking through the art/food markets around the city. Oh well.. I really only went to see the girls, and I did, and it was really fun. Expensive.. but worthwhile
Last week was lots of fun, I got a ‘promotion’ on the day before I left for Paris, and am now in charge of answering all emails to the company, helping clients find apartments, making budgets, and all kinds of stuff like that.. it’s WAY more fun than writing blogs or anything like that…
Friday night I went out with my new roommate Anna, Erik (a guy I work with) and his roommate Carlo.. and we went to a Hawaiian bar with cool drinks and cups.. then met up with Gill and her bf Jorge at Roxy Blue, which was fun but not what I expected.. then I met/danced with a cute Brazilian guy and hung out with everyone until 4 or so, then headed home
Yesterday I slept in and was supposed to go to the beach with Gill, but she was too ‘sick’ from the night before, so I walked from my house to L’Hospital de la Santa Creu i San Pau, which is all the way across the city. It was a 3 hour walk through the city, and I walked up Passeig de Gracia, which is always beautiful.. I like the city more and more each day.. then I just hung out for the night and rested.. I can never go out 2 nights in a row
Today I’m supposed to go to the pool/beach with Gill.. but we’ll see what happens!
